Welcome to our collection of snakes! There are over 3000 species of snakes on our planet, but only about 200 are able to significantly hurt or kill a human. Snakes are found on every continent except for Antarctica. Some snakes are venomous, and others are constrictors, but all snakes swallow their pray whole, thanks to their flexible jaws. They smell with their tongues, they shed their skin, and they are all carnivores. Most snakes lay eggs, but some give live birth to their young. Did you know that snakes don't have eyelids?
